"Tía Ale came about as we wanted to create a place for creativity and socialising for two sections of the population which are often overlooked - seniors and children," Laura explains from the homely surroundings of this new workshop/art school in Fuente del Berro. "We offer all sorts of activities based on creativity - sewing classes, pottery, baking sessions, painting... the idea is that everyone has creativity inside them, it's just a matter of waking it up!" There are also longer term courses on offer such as the popular 'Pequeño Picasso' - weekly art classes for children who want to find out about artists through stories and videos while also learning new art techniques -with the focus on fun and informality. "If they want to paint their sunflowers pink, then they are more than welcome to!"
Tía Ale opened in November 2021 by sisters Laura, Alejandra and Belén. They come from a large family of eight siblings and say that all their brothers and sisters have offered support and advice."We're brave, strong women and if we ever have any disagreements, they are always resolved with affection and love," Alejandra says. And this lovely family atmosphere is carried over into the workshop. They offer courses for families and love to see different generations mixing. Unfortunately they have struggled to get the oldest members of the barrio to come to classes - their fear of the pandemic has limited their socialising. "We put on an evening of Copla to try and encourage the seniors to come and we always point out that we have good ventilation here and air-purifying machines", Laura says. Plus a mask policy and social distancing measures, to make sure everyone feels safe.
Aside from the workshops already mentioned, they also offer a gardening session for children or adults called 'Verde Que Te Quiero Verde.' This course aims to instil a sense of wonder of nature in children while teaching adults tricks to help with their houseplants at home. The three sisters also renovate furniture - often selling the lovely pieces they've restored and completely transforming the workshop with new pieces they've acquired. They're also quite happy to lend their walls to local artists who want to showcase their work. And, added to all this, they support NGOs - such as Flores de Kiskaya and investigacion de cancer infantil - something that has particular personal resonance for Belén. Tía Ale's mission statement sums up their core beliefs perfectly: "I've always believed in the power of the imagination and in creativity. I imagine a world where children and older people are happy and have found their own space. With this philosophy and with love Tía Ale was born, a small bit of the planet where they can find their place."
“Tía Ale nace porque queríamos crear un lugar para la creatividad y la socialización de dos sectores de la población que a menudo se pasan por alto: los mayores y los niños”, explica Laura desde el entorno hogareño de este nuevo taller/escuela de arte en Fuente del Berro. "Ofrecemos todo tipo de actividades basadas en la creatividad: clases de costura, cerámica, sesiones de repostería, pintura... la idea es que todos lleven la creatividad dentro, ¡solo es cuestión de despertarla!". También se ofrecen cursos a más largo plazo, como el popular 'Pequeño Picasso', clases de arte semanales para niños que quieren aprender sobre artistas a través de historias y videos mientras aprenden nuevas técnicas artísticas, con un enfoque en la diversión y la informalidad. "¡Si quieren pintar sus girasoles de rosa, entonces son más que bienvenidos!"
Tía Ale abrió en noviembre de 2021 de la mano de las hermanas Laura, Alejandra y Belén. Provienen de una familia numerosa de ocho hermanos y dicen que todos sus hermanos y hermanas les han brindado apoyo y consejos. “Somos mujeres bravas y si alguna vez tenemos alguna discusión, siempre se resuelve con cariño y amor”, Alejandra. dice. Y este encantador ambiente familiar se traslada al taller. Ofrecen cursos para familias y les encanta ver la mezcla de diferentes generaciones. Desafortunadamente, han tenido problemas para que los miembros más mayores del barrio asistan a las clases: su miedo a la pandemia ha limitado su socialización. “Montamos una noche de Copla para intentar animar a los mayores a que vengan y siempre destacamos que aquí tenemos buena ventilación y máquinas purificadoras de aire”, cuenta Laura. Tienen una norma de mascarillas obligatorias y medidas de distanciamiento social, para garantizar que todos se sientan seguros.
Aparte de los talleres ya mencionados, también ofrecen una sesión de jardinería para niños o adultos llamada 'Verde Que Te Quiero Verde'. Este curso tiene como objetivo inculcar un sentido de maravilla de la naturaleza en los niños mientras enseña a los adultos trucos para ayudarlos con sus plantas de interior en casa. Las tres hermanas también renuevan muebles, a menudo vendiendo las preciosas piezas que han restaurado y transformando por completo el taller con nuevas piezas que han adquirido. También están felices de prestar sus paredes a artistas locales que quieran exhibir su trabajo. Y, sumado a todo esto, apoyan a ONG -como Flores de Kiskaya e investigación de cáncer infantil-, algo que tiene una resonancia personal especial para Belén. La declaración de la misión de Tía Ale resume perfectamente sus creencias fundamentales: "siempre he creído en el poder de la imaginación y de la creatividad. Imagino un mundo donde niños y mayores son felices y encuentran su espacio... Con esta filosofía y desde el amor nace Tía Ale, es pequeña porción del planeta donde ambas generaciones encuentran su sitio."
