“I thought the Pandemic would affect the amount of people wanting to sign up to my classes, but it hasn’t at all! I think people are keen to get back to the simplicity of making things with their hands, it’s a form of meditation,” Resu says from her beautiful workshop on the corner of c/Mejico and c/Pilar de Zaragoza. She launched her business back in 1997, choosing the venue as it was a short walk from her home in La Guindalera. “Although I used to sell my pots and creations in the Reina Sofia shop, and was also approached for pieces by the Thyssen Museum, it’s from classes that I make most of my income.” She offers classes to adults and children alike, from long courses over several weeks to just a few hours to celebrate a birthday or other event. Her beautiful pots and vases decorate the shelves of the airy workshop, while the large kiln dominates one corner. “I work with high and lower temperature clays - some need temperatures of up to 1300ºc to fire - it gets pretty hot in here!”
“I love using the Potter’s Wheel most - it gives me more freedom. And I love seeing how the different textures and varnishes turn out.” Her website and Instagram profile showcase some of her beautiful creations, or pop along to her workshop to see them in person - they make wonderful, unique gifts. And as to La Guindalera, Resu couldn’t be more enthusiastic: “it’s still like an old-fashioned neighbourhood, everything is in walking distance. It’s pretty chilled, though some parts can get noisy! I really like it.”

Empezó su negocio en 1997, eligiendo el lugar ya que estaba a pocos pasos de su casa en La Guindalera. "Aunque solía vender mis macetas y creaciones en la tienda Reina Sofía, y el Museo Thyssen también me pidió piezas, es de las clases de donde saco la mayor parte de mis ingresos". Ofrece clases tanto para adultos como para niños, desde cursos largos de varias semanas hasta unas pocas horas para celebrar un cumpleaños u otro evento. Sus hermosas macetas y jarrones decoran los estantes del taller, mientras que el gran horno domina una esquina. “Trabajo con arcillas de alta y baja temperatura, algunas necesitan temperaturas de hasta 1300ºc para disparar, ¡hace bastante calor aquí!”.
“Me encanta usar la rueda de alfarero, me da más libertad. Y me encanta ver cómo resultan las diferentes texturas y barnices ". Su página web y su perfil de Instagram muestran algunas de sus hermosas creaciones, o visita su taller para verlas en persona: son regalos maravillosos y únicos. Y en cuanto a La Guindalera, Resu no podría estar más entusiasmado: “sigue siendo un barrio 'barrio', todo está a poca distancia. ¡Es bastante tranquilo, aunque algunas partes pueden ser ruidosas! Me gusta mucho."
