“I was born into the business of jewellery-making. My dad was a jeweller and I was keen to follow in his footsteps,” Luis says from his fascinating little shop on c/Bruselas. “The store has been open for nearly 20 years and many of my clients have become firm friends. My main business is personalising pieces - maybe modifying a family heirloom - or creating a special jewel to order.” Aside from the rings and necklaces that are beautifully displayed in the windows and shelves of his shop he also sells watches, clocks and other items. “The pandemic has meant that people are a lot more patient with their orders,” Luis explains. “They often tell me to take my time whereas prior to Covid-19, there was generally more pressure to finish pieces as quickly as possible. I like to have plenty of time to complete a project as it’s a great responsibility to work on a family heirloom and I can’t afford to make any mistakes!”

Mi negocio principal es personalizar piezas, tal vez modificar una pieza familiar, o crear una joya especial por encargo". Aparte de los anillos y collares que se exhiben bellamente en las ventanas y estantes de su tienda, también vende relojes de pulsera, relojes de pared y otros artículos. “La pandemia ha hecho que la gente sea mucho más paciente con sus pedidos”, explica Luis. “A menudo me dicen que me tome mi tiempo, mientras que antes de Covid-19, generalmente había más estrés para terminar las piezas lo más rápido posible. Me gusta tener mucho tiempo para completar un proyecto, ya que es una gran responsabilidad trabajar en una pieza familiar y no puedo permitirme cometer errores ".
