“We’re bringing some of the tropics to Madrid!” Glori-Mar tells me from the lush surroundings of Flowering on Calle Cartagena. She and Marcelino opened their low-cost florist in February 2020 — just before Madrid went into lockdown. “By March 13 we were heading out into the street to give the flowers away for free,” Marcelino tells me, adding that they frequently had to go to the store to water the myriad plants that had been left there.
Despite the unfortunate start to their business, the Venezuelan pair are hopeful for the future and have lots of services on offer, including wedding floral decoration and office floral display service. They try to provide as affordable flowers as possible in the hope of encouraging people to get into the habit of taking freshly cut blooms home with them on a regular basis. Let’s face it, we could all do with a bit more greenery in our lives!

A pesar del desafortunado comienzo de su negocio, la pareja venezolana tiene esperanzas en el futuro y ofrece muchos servicios, incluida la decoración floral de bodas y el servicio de decoración floral de oficinas. Intentan proporcionar flores lo más asequibles posible con la esperanza de incentivar a las personas a que adquieran el hábito de llevarse a casa flores recién cortadas.
