"We're incredibly happy with how we've been welcomed in Guindalera," Jorge says from his colourful stand in Guindalera Market. Don Guindo has only been open for a month but it's already making waves in the neighbourhood. "We want to set up an open-mic and also have live music in the market," Jorge explains, saying that he wants to modernise the ambience of Guindalera Market but without losing its essence. He also points out that they kept 90% of the original design of their stall to maintain the wonderful market aesthetic.
The vermouth that Don Guindo sells is a mixture of their own recipe and other brands. They also sell a range of tinned products, crisps, cheese and a delicious smoked butter that's made in Barcelona. Jorge also curates an impressive menu of traditional Spanish dishes with a modern twist. The enthusiasm he has for his dishes and his vermouth is palpable. And he is brimming with excitement for the future. "As Christmas approaches we're going to start stocking gift baskets and we also want to start vermouth-tasting evenings too!" “Estamos increíblemente contentos con la forma en que nos han recibido en Guindalera”, dice Jorge desde su colorido puesto en el Mercado de la Guindalera. Don Guindo solo lleva un mes abierto pero ya está causando una sensación en el barrio. “Queremos montar un micrófono abierto y también tener música en directo en el mercado”, explica Jorge, diciendo que quiere modernizar el ambiente del Mercado de la Guindalera pero sin perder su esencia. También señala que mantuvieron el 90% del diseño original de su puesto para mantener la maravillosa estética del mercado.
El vermut que vende Don Guindo es una mezcla de su receta propia y de otras marcas. También venden una gama de productos de ultramarino, patatas fritas, queso y una deliciosa mantequilla ahumada que se hace en Barcelona. Jorge también hace un impresionante menú de platos tradicionales españoles con un toque moderno. Es obvio la ilusión que tiene por sus platos y su vermut. Y está lleno de entusiasmo por el futuro. "A medida que se acerca la Navidad, vamos a vender cestas de regalos y también queremos comenzar degustaciónes de vermut".
