“The name ‘4 Corners’ has been floating around my head for a while. My daughter was born in London, we lived for a while in France, I’m from Mexico and we now live here in Spain! This project is a dream I’ve had for ages and I’m so excited that it has become a reality!” Monica’s 4 Esquinas gallery is also a workshop that offers drawing classes and gardening courses. The space, which opened on 9 December 2021, used to be a hardware store and maintains some industrial elements, with rooms radiating out from a central patio, filled with luscious greenery, all tended by the talented Christophe Gillan of Normandía Diseño (@normandia_diseno).
“Our inaugural exhibition was of Rive Diaz Bernal, entitled ‘Herramental’ - the perfect subject bearing in mind what this space used to house!” The pieces that line the wall integrate perfectly with the products that are also on sale in 4 Esquinas - from zero-waste detergents, candles, handmade books and soaps and recycled tire containers from India. “Our next exhibition will be from Debajo del Sombrero whose artists are 'outsiders' and after that we will display the work of Chilean artist Flavia Totoro.”
Some of the art classes are led by Alexandra Kuhn and they also host free-style drawing evenings called ‘Drink & Draw’ where a model poses, wine is consumed and a pianist tinkles the ivories in the background, led by Jimena Sancho - the perfect way to spend an hour or two! Meanwhile the plant side of things is led by Eduardo Barba, the author of El Jardin Del Prado, who offers walking tours of the Botanical Gardens and other sites, as well as showing the best way to propagate plants and other tips.
All in all 4 Equinas is a wonderful creative place. Perfect to pick up a unique gift for a loved one or sign up for a class to nurture your artistic side - or your green-fingered one!

Algunas de las clases de arte están dirigidas por Alexandra Kuhn y también organizan veladas de dibujo de estilo libre dirigidas por Jimena Sancho llamadas 'Drink & Draw' donde una modelo posa, se bebe vino y un pianista tintinea los marfiles en el fondo: la manera perfecta de pasar una hora o dos! Mientras tanto, el lado verde de las cosas está liderado por Eduardo Barba, el autor de El Jardín del Prado, quien ofrece recorridos a pie por el Jardin Botánico y otros sitios, además de mostrar la mejor manera de propagar plantas y otros consejos.
En general, 4 Equinas es un maravilloso lugar creativo. Perfecto para recoger un regalo único para un ser querido o inscribirse en una clase para nutrir su lado artístico, ¡o su lado verde!
